I am Professor of Corporate Law in the University of Sydney Law School where I teach and research in the areas of Corporate Law, Corporate Insolvency Law, Commercial Law and Contracts. I have published widely in these areas and my research has been cited in the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia as well as in the Federal Court of Australia and in parliamentary committees in the Commonwealth Parliament. My research is focused on the public and private regulation of financially distressed companies, including debt restructuring, voluntary administration, corporate governance and directors’ duties during financial distress and the regulation of corporate groups.

I am the editor of the Insolvency section of the Company and Securities Law Journal and I am a member of the editorial board of the Australian Journal of Corporate Law.

I am a former president of the Corporate Law Teachers’ Association (for 2017) and served on the executive committee for 10 years.

I have previously held academic positions at UNSW, the ANU and UTS.
